Welcome to Sartorial Cinematography

Welcome to Sartorial Cinematography! If you have an interest in the history and theory of fashion and film, then you’ve come to the right place. I’m going to be watching and re-watching some older films (as well as newer ones), concentrating on sartorial details, ¬†discussing the costume and styling choices. I want to address the historical, political, and sociological decisions of the costumes in the films we talk about here, but I also might just post pictures of costumes I like, because I like to look at nice things.

I hope this becomes an interesting and fun place to talk about film and fashion!

Here is one of my absolute favourite characters with absolute perfect late 1980s eclectic style, Holly from Woody Allen’s Hannah and her Sisters. We will look closer at this film in the coming days!
